Located in the heart of Windsor Ontario, Brentwood is a non-denominational recovery home that has served over 20,000 men and women primarily from Windsor and Essex County; however, clients come from all over Canada and the United States.

The facility is set on nine acres with three main buildings and a pavilion. It is staffed by 55 employees including certified counsellors and a full medical staff.

Not only did the people at Brentwood change my son, but they changed me as a mother. It allowed me to develop an amazing relationship with my son. When we found Brentwood, I was as much in need of help as my son was. I could not have done this journey without help. Without Brentwood’s help!

By coming to Family Support meetings with an open heart, I found a support system like no others. Brentwood staff have continued to work with my son in his Recovery while I worked my own program. People who have a family member addicted to gambling can now enroll in their own support program in Windsor.

The program was designed to meet a constant demand for clients, explained coordinator Shawn Rumble.

'The demand is high,' he said. 'We always receive requests for services.'

Windsor Gambling Treatment Centre Cardiff

Three times this year, Hôtel-Dieu Grace will offer the six-day program. After April's session, the hospital will offer one in July and a third in November.

An estimated 18 people are expected to take the program.

'Like any addiction, gambling, gaming, and internet dependency affect more than just the individual who chooses to continue their respective behaviour,' Rumble said. 'This program addition will lead to the creation of informed, stable, and supportive friends and family members.'

The program is open to both women and men, offering them their own private rooms and washrooms.
